    The trip to Florida was good, but it was not as easy to make as many contacts as I would have liked. So, I was able to talk to 6-7 potential employers, but I wanted more.
    Of greater significance were the comments that I had during my two hour long interview. They specifically said that my resume was not like any others that they had seen. They said "everyone else simply sends in what they did, no one said (other than mine) what they accomplished."
    To that end, I give you many kudos and thanks. It really helped to set me apart, and I know it will going forward.

    We want to share our good news about an alliance for us that has happened in the last few weeks.
    Through some business relationships that we have been nurturing over the past year, we have made an alliance with the PBS (Public Broadcasting System) Series. We are going to be featured in this series that will air after the first of the year. This series will be broadcast over 349 national PBS stations and some of the clips will be played on MSNBC, CNN, and FOX.
    When we were contacted by the producers at PBS we were told that we could be a part of the series for a very large sum of grant money. As you know, we did not have such an amount and you asked us the question, "Who do you know that would be willing to pay this amount of money?" Through an alliance we already had in place with a corporate client…everything fell into place within 48 hours!
    So we will start filming in the fall and be on the tube sometime after the first of the year!

    Just a quick note to let you know that your candidate and I finally connected. I did let him know that you have helped me completely rework my hiring process by helping me establish my criteria for positions, making recruiting an ongoing campaign, teaching me how to read a resume, teaching me how to interview more skillfully, establishing a testing protocol and helping me with qualitative analysis of candidates. I think he was moved by this.
    Additionally, I discussed our ongoing coaching relationship and the tangible benefits I receive from that part of our work together. Specifically, that I have grown as a coach and leader, my people have grown as a direct result of your coaching, and that an underperforming salesperson has/will double his sales this year. I believe he was moved by this as well.
    I probably covered a few other points but this was the essence of our call. I hope I was helpful to you both.

    Hi Ernest,
    Wonderful, and severely jet lagged. We have been here in France for three days, had three invitations to dinner, and are just about settled in our friend's two bedroom 'gite' apartment on her beautiful country property. My husband and our cat both survived the 30 hour journey and I'm just looking forward to getting my head and body back in the same place.
    My office is gorgeous, looking out on rolling hills and fields with the scent of honey suckle and roses wafting in the window. Very inspirational for me to keep focused and courageous and keep growing my young business.

    I think today's call was a giant leap in the right direction. A top sales person likes to be able to talk his way out of commitments he doesn't feel comfortable with so I think what you heard in his voice was frustration, fear, anxiety, and a deep disbelief in his own abilities.     Years ago Paul…I read a book on selling that revolutionized my work here. It, I believe, was a combination of timing and technique coupled with drive and desire that made so many of the lessons come alive in me. Like you, I immediately put them into practice...and like I say, it revolutionized my selling.

    I thought I would drop you a note about the call-in we had on Tuesday, 2-24-04. Although I have very mixed feelings about staff/sales meetings in general, and after hosting, running and participating in literally thousands of these wasted minutes, hours and days on a variety of topics and arenas, I must tell you that our meeting with Ernest on Tuesday was nothing short of fabulous. This was by far, the best meeting I have ever had with our company. I would strongly encourage you to have Ernest replicate the magic he performed for Debbie and I to all current and potential sales personnel. It is invaluable as a training aid and the best "On Point" scenario that could have been delivered to me.
    Mike, the entire presentation, along with the motivation and steps he illustrated in preparation, resulted in a sales presentation that left me speechless and not a question in my mind. His dialog and his use of common sense and addressing ALL the issues left me with wanting to immediately jump on board. Normally, when ideas and potential strategies are discussed, I am always left with many questions bouncing around my brain that were not addressed or occurred as a result of the presentation. When Ernest had finished, I had no questions whatsoever, and more importantly, I immediately saw the application for several large clients and prospects.
    Ernest went through his four sales points and when our sales meeting was over, I immediately set out to do the homework and have the answers I will need to organize and prepare my sales presentation for my top prospects, as well as others. Please pass on my sincere appreciation to Ernest.

    Thanks again for fitting me in today. I just did a year end financial review with our CFO and we came out really well. Despite the additional head count in sales and services, our net income was $327,603 which was $240,000 over budget. Also, our previous year's net income was only about $51,000.

    Hi Ernest -
    I just wanted to thank you again (I think of our coaching collaboration each time I get a significant career boost!) for helping me rise to a 'new level' a few years (?) ago. You helped negotiate my starting salary (with benefits) to $100K from a (what I thought was a shaky) position as a consultant. From that position I was hired away by SAIC to work on site with our client NCI. Last week's review brought me a generous (for these times!) additional 4.25% raise and I now have a salary of $111.5K with full benefits, working in a stimulating job among fascinating and brilliant people, with reasonable hours that let me spend the time I want (or almost) with my wonderful wife and son! Frankly, when I told friends I was paying a coach such and such to help my career they doubted my wisdom but as you can see, you were a great investment!

    I wanted to let you know that I took our e-mail conversation from a week or
    so ago and have put it into action. This was the company that I was questioning
    if I should work toward an alliance. The CEO was so excited about the alliance idea that he has me working with two of his staff to put this plan into action.
    I am so grateful that we connected. My business (and I) have been rather ho-hum the last six months. Still creating great work - still serving great clients but we weren't having FUN. All that has returned and so has the motivation on the other side of the business.

    My Company's Independence Day
    Ernest,
    I was driving to lunch today thinking about my licensing situation and my company's future. As we've discussed I'm hesitant to invest a lot more money into the business without a new fee arrangement. Ideally I'd like to break away from my licensing agreement entirely.
    I want to thank you for all the time and effort you expended in helping to put this deal together. The extra early morning calls, talking with my licensor, last minute emails and even tracking me down in Walmart. As you know there many times I was extremely frustrated, and questioned why we were moving so slowly. But you continued to keep me upbeat and always had a new plan of attack.
    As you probably guessed the negotiating continued right up until the deal was signed, however the major battles were already won and well documented. We both knew that the deal wouldn't be completed until I had a signed copy in my hand. I'm not sure how much money you saved me with your negotiating techniques, but I would guess it's between $350,000 to $500,000.
    We still have many more issues to deal with in St. Louis, some good and some not so good. But for now I'm going to sit back and enjoy our accomplishment.

    In the Army, we call regroups "readiness reviews," which we do on a quarterly basis. I enjoyed your write-up. Thanks.
    As my coach, I thought you should know that I have been rated the #1 battalion commander of sixteen Army Reserve battalion commanders in the three-state area of California, Arizona, and Nevada. I can't help but think of the some of the "excellence" lessons you taught me that I have used with my gang.
    My next Army Reserve job will be to serve as the director of the Company Team Leader Development Course for our three-state area. I love leading soldiers and I have somehow landed on a fast-track of significant high-profile service. Thanks again for all your help and encouragement.

    I didn't want another day to go by without telling you the amazing results of our "walls that sell". Without a doubt this has been the best sales tool I have ever implemented. Everyone from the receptionist to the delivery man checks out our daily progress. Everyone in the office checks the vacant apartment list and celebrates when it reaches zero. The salespeople can't wait to write their name on the board with their own special color after each sale. The entire office is now anxiously waiting for me to compute and post last month's sales percentages. The sales boards have helped bring the entire office together towards our common goals.
    We just finished our best month ever!! I guarantee the sales boards played a big part.
